US confirms support for Israel amid fears of Iran attack

The US military's most senior Middle East commander touched down in Tel Aviv today, as Washington underscored its support for Israel in the face of ever-growing threats from Iran.

The country's Supreme Leader again vowed to 'punish' Israel - after a strike last week in Damascus killed a host of senior Iranian commanders, with President Biden also warning of a 'significant' attack in the offing. Benjamin Netanyahu hinted Israel was prepared to retaliate.
