Global National: April 13, 2024 | US shoots down Iranian drones launched at Israel
For days, Iranian officials have been vowing to attack Israel, and the country appears to have followed up on that threat Saturday, launching a number of drones toward Israel. This came on the same day as a group of Iranian military commandos stormed and seized an Israeli-affiliated container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. As Mackenzie Gray reports, the attack comes after one of Tehran's diplomatic facilities in Syria was recently destroyed in an Israeli airstrike.
In Australia, at least six people are dead after a stabbing rampage inside a Sydney shopping mall. It happened at a Westfield shopping centre in Bondi Junction, a Sydney suburb. Police say the lone suspect had no clear motive or ideology, and was eventually shot dead by a female officer, hailed a hero. Nearly all of the victims are women. An Ontario man who suffered a medical emergency in Costa Rica says he feels stranded abroad.
