When it's bitterly cold in Britain more people die, and much of those deaths are preventable. Indeed, experts point out that far colder countries have fewer excess winter deaths.
The UK has some of the least energy efficient homes in Western Europe - many are old and less able to keep heat in.
There’s never been more public money going into helping the nation pay its energy bills, but it still costs more than ever to heat your home which many still can't afford to do, and in doing so they risk their health and that of their family.
