Ukraine experienced a "massive wave" of Russian missile and drone attacks, Sky News military analyst Sean Bell has said.
"The real question is why have the Russians attacked Lviv, it is a long way away from anywhere. It looks very likely this is about Russia attacking Western supplies of aid into the country."

Ukraine’s armoured vehicles appear to have punched through Russia’s main defensive line of mines, barriers and trenches on the southern front.
Geoconfirmed footage shows Marder and Stryker vehicles, both of which are used by the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, are operating behind the Surovikin Line west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia.
Infantry has already been used to clear trenches in the region, but the presence of Ukrainian armour suggests Kyiv has made it past anti-tank defences and is exploiting gaps in Russian lines.
Geolocated footage last month confirmed the 82nd Brigade infantry had breached the defences installed by Sergey Surovikin, the former commander of Russia’s invasion.

The United States of America recently confirmed it will deliver F-16 fighter jets to the Ukrainian air force, ending months of will-they or won’t-they speculation and just down right teasing. The F-16 is a multirole 4th generation fighter jet that has formed the backbone of Western air forces since the 1980s, with 4,600 aircraft produced and 2,100 in-use by 20 different countries, the F-16 is the most widely operated fighter in the world.

Along with donations of jets from other NATO allies, Ukraine will start to receive dozens of F-16s by the end of 2023, with many more to come in 2024. The West has held off on delivering Western aircraft to Ukraine until now for 2 reasons. First there were potential fears that Russia would view the transfer as a serious escalation leading to retaliation and second U.S. officials believed that learning to fly and logistically support the technologically advanced F-16 might be more difficult and time consuming than it was actually worth. Exact numbers are difficult to come by. It appears Denmark will send 6 this year and from what I could dig up it looks like they’ll eventually send a total of 19. The Netherlands has a total of 42 in their inventory but it’s unclear yet how many of them will be sent.
News agencies are naturally going bonkers with predictions about how these F-16 will either turn the tide of the war in Ukraine, or won’t make a difference at all. So in this video hopefully we can try to untangle some of that confusion. So why is the F-16 such a big deal for the air war over ukraine? I’m your average infantryman chris cappy let's find out.

Ukraine launched a missile attack on the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, the Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Crimea, said. Sevastopol, home to Russia's Black Sea Fleet headquarters, is the largest city in the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea that was illegally annexed by Moscow's forces in 2014. #CNN #News
Conducted by a commander who then directs his or her staff to explore specific ideas, operational art is a military activity. It starts once the political leadership has decided quite why the military lever of national power is to be employed.
This is expressed in what is known as the End State, which should describe the military situation that is required to make possible the desired political outcome. Once the commander knows this end state, he or she will then know what’s expected of them and where the limits are.
Even if the political and military leadership are in alignment, identifying the end state is tricky. Look at Ukraine. Is shoving Russian forces back to the lines of Feb 23rd last year good enough? It’s arguably an easier task for the military than ejecting them from the whole country. But will that only store up problems for the future? Is it domestically acceptable?

I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the five hundred seventy eighth day of the war.
Day 578: Sep 24
Today, there are a lot of important updates from the southern line.
First of all, more information became available about the Ukrainian attack on Novoprokoivka. As it turned out, the Ukrainian progress was bigger than expected. Previously, based on the footage of the fighting, it was confirmed that Ukrainians managed to push Russians away from the northern edge of the settlement. However, recently released footage by the Russian side shows that Ukrainians also entered the village from the northeast. The footage is tragic because a Russian soldier managed to get in the rear and kill 2 Ukrainian soldiers. Ukrainian military-affiliated sources circulated this footage to make sure that Ukrainian soldiers learn from this mistake.
Nonetheless, the footage served as a testament that Ukrainians have expanded control over the region significantly. Last time, Russian artillery strikes on the northern part of the village confirmed that Ukrainians entered the first 2 streets from the north. By the way, the 2 Ukrainian soldiers from the video were located near these 2 buildings and were shooting in the direction of the 3rd and 4th streets, where Russians were located.
But the fact that these 2 soldiers managed to get there means that Russians lost control over most, if not all, fields northeast of the settlement. First of all, it means that Russians no longer control the southern part of the small forest and the nearby tree line because this is where the Ukrainians came from. Secondly, Russians no longer control the tree lines behind the Ukrainians, otherwise, they would be shot from the back by snipers.
It is important to note, that even though Russians no longer maintain a permanent presence in these areas, it doesn’t mean that Ukrainians established 100% control over them. However, it does mean that Ukrainians are capable of moving into these territories and conducting much deeper penetrations.
And if we look at the topographic map, we can see that this is the part of the village that is the most important from the tactical perspective. The elevation allows Ukrainians to be in better control of the enemy movement. Recently released footage by the Ukrainian snipers that operate in the vicinity of Novoprokopivka clearly demonstrates the advantage. As it can be seen, the Ukrainian sniper is looking down on the field from the hills and easily spots Russian soldiers that stick out of shelters 1236 meters away.
In order to facilitate further and easier advancement of the Ukrainian assault units in this direction, Ukrainian HIMARS crews conducted an extensive strike on the Russian bases and command centers in Tokmak. Russian sources reported that the strike lasted for an hour and a half. Multiple strikes on the same targets are made to ensure that Russian forces that are conducting rescue also get liquidated. The number of troops liquidated in subsequent strikes is usually higher when the target of the strike is a command center because Russian soldiers are ordered to rescue the officers from under the rubble.
Speaking about the strikes on the Russian command centers, more information became available about the recent comprehensive strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. As revealed by the satellite footage from Planet Labs, the missiles demolished the northern part of the building and hit right in the center of the western part of the building. The Head of Ukrainian Intelligence reported that Ukrainians inflicted 25 losses on the Russian military personnel, including generals. More precisely, the head of the command center, lieutenant-general Oleg Tsekov, is in a coma, and, what is even more interesting, the commander of the Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia region coloner-general Alexandr Romanchuk is severely injured.
So, virtually simultaneous strikes on the Russian command centers from Tokmak and Melitopol to Sevastopol made sure that Ukrainians liquidated the whole chain of command – from low-level commanders located close to the contact line to medium-level in the middle, to high-level located in Sevastopol. This also explains why Ukrainians conducted the strikes during the day and not as usual at night. At first, it was surprising to see that the missiles were launched at noon, however, given that Ukrainians basically targeted offices, it is logical because everyone works in the office during the day.
Sky News' military analyst Sean Bell looks at the record number of targeted drone attacks from Ukraine that hit multiple regions of Russia overnight.
The operation has been described as the biggest coordinated assault since the start of the invasion.
In the east of Ukraine, Sean says that the conflict is drifting into two different wars - one for land in the north near Kupiansk, and a second one pushing south across the Dnipro river.
