Are you brand new to guitar and not sure where to start? π€ Well then, you've clicked on the perfect video! π
πππ OPEN ME! πππ
My name is Ellen and I create step-by-step guitar tutorials here on my channel, #for3v3rfaithful π¦Welcome to the very first episode of my brand new beginner series, where I'll have you playing your first song in just 10 minutes! π±
Through the years, many people have told me on their first day of guitar lessons, "I just want to play a song" - so that's what this video is for! πΈThis series is intended to teach you the basics of guitar by PLAYING ACTUAL SONGS in each video! πΆ Of course, you'll still learn the foundational stuff along the way, but it'll be sprinkled in so you can still have fun and play your guitar while learning. π€
In this episode, we jump right into tuning your guitar and learning your first 2 chords, G and Cadd9 - some of the most popular chords used in today's music! π Throughout this series, we'll dive deeper into topics like tuning your guitar, practicing chord transitions, and figuring out strumming patterns, but for this first lesson, I want you to concentrate on the fact that you CAN play something just minutes after picking up your 6 string!! π
Thanks so much for watching, and good luck!! β

Sight-reading has never come easily to me. Iβve struggled with it from the beginning. At one point in my early piano years, I had to repeat an entire level because my teacher realized Iβd learned nothing. I was hearing her demonstrate the song and then playing from memory, never actually knowing how to read the notes!
Along the way, Iβve learned some things that have made sight-reading much easier for me, which I'll share in this lesson. As you watch, keep in mind that some people will naturally find sight-reading easier than others. Those of us with strong ears and the natural ability to play without music tend to struggle the most when it comes to reading notation. The reverse is also true for those who are strong sight-readers. Strong sight-readers will often have trouble playing by ear. The important thing to keep in mind is that we all have our own unique strengths and weaknesses and we need to celebrate both.
Enjoy the lesson!

This is my first music lesson. This is more of an experiment to see whether I can actually teach this well and whether any of you guys find it helpful. In the first few minutes of the video, for some reason, my camera would not focus properly but later seemed to work better. Today's video is my FULL "music theory for dum-dums" crash course! Music theory 101!
Look, I know most people don't think music theory lessons are as interesting as we piano teachers do... so I'm trying to keep this video interesting.
This is going to be music theory explained on a broad level, and all the basic concepts will be laid out for you in this free course.
Specifically, we're going to look at how music chords theory and music scales theory tie together to create a real SONG.
We'll definitely also cover chord progressions theory too.
That's the thing, we can talk about music theory for beginners all day long...
But actually showing you how to USE this within the context of REAL SONGS is what's going to make sense of it all.
When learning about music theory piano is definitely the best instrument to illustrate the concepts on. But what you'll learn in this video is also applicable to guitar, or any other instrument.
