Artenübergreifende Liebe? Nikotinabhängigkeit? Erwachsenenwitze? Und wer ist eigentlich das Genie und wer der Verrückte? Das alles sind Dinge, die man als Kind vielleicht verpasst hat, aber jetzt, wo man erwachsen ist, ist es an der Zeit, "Pinky und der Brain" mit neuen Augen zu sehen.

Es kann eine echte Herausforderung sein, pädagogische Themen in Zeichentrickfilme am Samstagmorgen einzubauen, aber sowohl "Animaniacs" als auch "Pinky und der Brain" waren darin außergewöhnlich gut. Beide Serien waren dafür bekannt, den Zuschauern mit eingängigen Musiknummern und kreativem Humor etwas über die Welt beizubringen.

Ein bemerkenswertes Beispiel ist der Song "A Meticulous Analysis of History", in dem Pinky und der Brain Kleopatra, Hannibal, Attila den Hunnen, Caligula, Napoleon Bonaparte und andere historische Eroberer beschreiben. Die Kinder werden sich sicherlich an den Ohrwurm und einige berühmte Namen erinnern, auch wenn viele der Details vielleicht keinen Eindruck hinterlassen.

Andere Anspielungen sind etwas weniger offensichtlich und erfordern sowohl ein gutes Gehör als auch etwas Geschichtsunterricht, um sie aufzuspüren. Im Weihnachtsspecial der Show wird ein taktloser Witz über eines der berüchtigtsten Ereignisse der 1800er Jahre eingebaut.

Unnötig zu erwähnen, dass diese Anspielung auf eine Gruppe kannibalischer Pioniere nicht wirklich für Kinder gedacht war, um sie zu verstehen.

From the last episode of the new Animaniacs reboot/continuation. Some real good stuff. Wasn't expecting something like this, but hey, I'll take it rather than leave it.

Intro to Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainments 1995 animated series Pinky and the Brain If any part of Animaniacs deserved a spin-of series, it was the Pinky and the Brain segment. The series followed the elaborate plans of Brain, a genetically altered lab mouse, who was assisted by fellow genetically altered lab mouse Pinky, whose sideways look at things and lack of focus on the job at hand infuriated Brain.

From their home/base/prison in Acme Labs, the two endeavored to take over the world, coming close only to fail at some critical point that was either overlooked by Brain, or else because of Pinkys aforementioned lack of focus. Occasionally, Brain finds himself either defending the world from menaces like Snowball, an evil hamster with intelligence to rival Brain, or saving himself and/or Pinky from other nefarious threats.

One is a genius, the others insane - but which one?

Whereas Pinky seems to be the insane one, he has in some episodes bizarrely come closer to taking over the world than Brain and even succeeding several times (like in the episodes Pinkys Plan and Pinkys Turn). In the case of the episode That Smarts, the Brain finds that it is he that is the cause of his own failures and not Pinky.

Unfortunately, the show was later ruined with the release of Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain in 1997, lets just pretend that that never happened.

The entire series is out on DVD in the USA on three box-sets. The series right are held by Warner Bros.
