Mark Rober and his team planned to drop an egg from the highest building for a world record and that egg should not break. But he thought people are constantly building taller buildings in the future then he planned to drop the egg from space no one can build higher buildings than that and no one can break this world record. In fact, it is a world record and he proved he dropped the egg and the egg didn’t break.

NASA Engineer Dropped An Egg From Space.. And It DIDN'T Break

Welcome back to Tech Summary, today on the channel we are going to Watch an egg fall from near space — and survive + The Strangest Experiments Humans Have Ever Done in Space. A former NASA engineer and now-YouTuber has created a viral sensation with a video documenting efforts to send an egg to near space to test if it cracks up on landing. Mark Rober conceived the notion of seeing if an egg could survive a landing on a mattress following a fall from high up in the stratosphere, or near space. Together with his team and aided by other former personnel from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Rober settled on an experiment consisting of an egg held by the tip of a rocket-shaped vehicle and carried to an altitude of over 100,000 feet — about 19 miles (30.5 kilometers) — by a high-altitude balloon before falling back to Earth. The rocket, armed with fins for guidance, would target the mattress and release the egg to freefall from around 300 feet (100 meters) up.

If that sounds simple, it proved to be anything but. What followed was an exacting, three-year odyssey of scrubbed launches, "dumb failures," lost helium and silly voices, GPS issues, eggs lost in the pursuit of science and much more. Early failures led to what Rober described as his "ultimate phone a friend." This meant calling on his buddy Adam Steltzner, who you might "recognize as this guy from when we landed Curiosity on Mars," Rober said. In the late 16th century, Galileo Galilei dropped two spheres of unequal mass from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. When both arrived on the ground at the same time, he'd countered classically established views, by showing mass had no bearing on gravitational acceleration. All objects, no matter the mass, should fall at the same rate - even if it's a feather and a hammer. On Earth, this is tricky to demonstrate due to air resistance. But nearly 400 years later, a human standing on the Moon repeated the experiment. On May 31, 2013, the students of Key Peninsula Middle School launched a high altitude balloon to study science and attempt to break the world record for the highest egg drop.

The raw egg survived the flight and landed intact after reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph and documented altitudes of over 40,000 feet!

The payload included tracking devices that relayed live information on location, altitude and air speed. Unfortunately the flight time well exceeded the battery life of the two on-board GoPro cameras... We have no video of the last half our our flight.

The FAA tracked our flight using the website we provided and alerted aircraft in the vicinity. Several commercial pilots relayed messages to us that they had observed our balloon as it exceeded altitudes of over 40,000 feet. The balloon was designed to burst at 90,000 feet.

We sent an iPhone 13 into outer space! We used a space weather balloon and our specifically designed rig with attached GoPros, GPS, and iPhone 13 to successfully launch and recapture the payload. Will the iPhone work in outer space? Can we FaceTime with space? We had these questions too, but unfortunately the FAA has rules and regulations that don't allow the phone to be on with the payload. We had a lot of problems, but we overcame them and successfully sent our iPhone 13 to space.
