Defence Minister Bill Blair joined Canadian troops at a training base in the U.K. on Sunday, where they held a special salute for Ukrainian recruits departing for the war.
Blair said the training being provided by Canadian troops is “saving lives.”
The defence minister also said Sunday that Canada would contribute $33 million to a partnership with several allies to send air defence missiles to Ukraine.

A UN field team has been sent to inspect Russia's attack on the eastern Ukrainian village of Hroza, in Kharkiv, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has said after at least 52 people were killed in the attack on a cafe and a shop.
Former Air Marshall, Edward Stringer has stressed how Russian strikes on Hroza and Kharkiv have killed 'innocent civilians' for 'no military purpose.'

Despite Ukraine receiving thousands of Western weapons, at least two-thirds of Kyiv’s arsenal is Soviet-era, like the BM-21 Grad rocket launcher. The Grad is falling apart and has no precision, but it can launch forty unguided rockets in twenty seconds, covering an area almost as large as ten football fields.
With their rocket supply running thinner, more Ukrainian soldiers are being conservative with their ammo by choosing targets more selectively.

Western military powers are running out of ammunition to give Ukraine to defend itself against Russia's full-scale invasion, the UK and Nato have warned.
Adm Rob Bauer, Nato's most senior military official, told the Warsaw Security Forum that "the bottom of the barrel is now visible".
He said governments and defence manufacturers now had to "ramp up production in a much higher tempo".
Ukraine fires thousands of shells every day and most now come from Nato.

As Ukraine’s military struggles to restock its long-range missiles, it’s relying on foreign supplies, like the U.K.’s Storm Shadow missiles. On Friday, President Biden agreed to provide a limited supply of the Army Tactical Missile System or ATACMS to Ukrainian forces. These missiles are equipped with a 500-lb class fragmentation warhead and have a max range of about 190 miles.

Russia launched a failed attack on the village of Klishchiivka. Troops were thrown into a suicidal ‘human wave’ attack. More than a dozen Russian soldiers took part in the assault. Drone footage shows an armoured vehicle taking them into battle. But the vehicle flees almost immediately, leaving the troops alone. They quickly get stuck as Ukrainian artillery explodes around them. With no way forwards or backwards, the soldiers are wiped out. Klishchiivka is located to the south of Bakhmut. Ukraine has recently taken high ground around the town. Taking the town itself is important to surrounding Bakhmut. Ukraine wants to take Bakhmut back as part of its counter-attack.

The Russian-installed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said no one was injured outside the burning headquarters, but did not provide information on other casualties. Sevastopol residents said they heard explosions in the skies and saw smoke, Russian news outlets reported. Firefighters are reportedly battling the blaze with more emergency forces being brought in. Crimea is home to Vladimir Putin's prized Black Sea Fleet and is of huge strategic value due to its location on the Black Sea. The latest Ukrainian missile strikes on the illegally occupied region of Crimea this week have heavily impacted Russia's naval capability.
Military analyst Michael Clark said the attack on the fleet was "pretty effective" and the fire damage on the ships will take a "very long time to repair".
