For days, Iranian officials have been vowing to attack Israel, and the country appears to have followed up on that threat Saturday, launching a number of drones toward Israel. This came on the same day as a group of Iranian military commandos stormed and seized an Israeli-affiliated container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. As Mackenzie Gray reports, the attack comes after one of Tehran's diplomatic facilities in Syria was recently destroyed in an Israeli airstrike.

In Australia, at least six people are dead after a stabbing rampage inside a Sydney shopping mall. It happened at a Westfield shopping centre in Bondi Junction, a Sydney suburb. Police say the lone suspect had no clear motive or ideology, and was eventually shot dead by a female officer, hailed a hero. Nearly all of the victims are women. Catherine Urquhart reports on the indiscriminate attack, and more on what is known about the killer.

An Ontario man who suffered a medical emergency in Costa Rica says he feels stranded abroad. His family is working to bring him back, but with all the paperwork in order, they say there's still a major obstacle in their way: a lack of available hospital beds back home. As Sean O'Shea reports, their story isn't unique — and for many Canadians, the problem only seems to be getting worse.

The latest numbers show cases of Invasive Group A Strep hit a new peak in 2023 and this year appears to follow that trend. A recent cluster of deaths in the Maritimes has families pushing for better awareness. Heidi Petracek explains what one expert says is still desperately needed to fight strep, and speaks to the mother of a child who survived a close call.

Indigenous communities are sounding the alarm as the wildfire season gets underway. On Wednesday, the federal government announced new funding to help the 48 First Nations in Alberta hire emergency management coordinators, promising that more funding would be on the way. But with wildfires already sparking evacuation orders, several chiefs tell Global News that the announcement is both too little and too late. Heather Yourex-West reports.
