US air base Al Asad in Iraq was targeted by Iran in response to the death of Qasem Soleimani, the top Iranian military commander, who was killed in a US air strike.

Iranian state television has released video of what it says is a ballistic missile attack launched at US military forces in Iraq. The Pentagon has confirmed that missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting US military and coalition personnel at al-Asad and Irbil. Tensions are rising between Pakistan and Iran after an Iranian air strike on Pakistani territory killed two children. Islamabad recalled its ambassador to Iran on Wednesday, and has expelled the Iranian ambassador.
According to Iranian state media, the airstrike targeted the headquarters of the militant group Jaish al-Adl.
Iran has accused the group of carrying out terrorist attacks on Iranian soil.
In the last few days Iran has launched similar strikes against targets in Iraq and Syria.

For the first time in history, Iran has attacked Israel directly. They just fired drones that will arrive in Israel in a few hours. The IDF believes that cruise missiles may also be part of the attack. The Israeli and American Air Force are going to attempt to intercept all of these before they reach Israel. GPS is jammed throughout the nation. Both Navys are ready to intercept additional Iranian launches. The attack is thought to be layered. United Nations secretary general Antonio Guterres has condemned an air strike on an Iranian consular annex building in Damascus on Monday. A statement from Guterres reiterated that diplomatic consular premises must be respected in accordance with international law.
Iran has blamed Israel for the attack which killed at least thirteen people. Iran's Revolutionary Guard says one of its senior commanders was among those killed. Mohammad Reza Zahedi was a top general with Iran's Quds Force, which oversees covert operations abroad. Several other officers were killed.
